Entry Guidelines
Welcome to the Northern Territory’s own short film competition.
This year, for the first time, we are introducing a new section for films shot on mobile phones. Whether it’s a sequence of stills carefully edited together, or a single shot mini-masterpiece, if it was shot using your mobile it’s eligible… provided you also adhere to the following conditions.
Conditions of Entry
In order for your entry to qualify for inclusion in the Fone Flix Section judging process, it must adhere to the following conditions:
- Principal creators of entries, must have been NT residents for at least 6 months at 16 July 2007;
- The entry must contain vision of the 2007 Fist Full of Films Featured Object, which is BALLOON. An object that can be described as a BALLOON must be clearly visible at some point in the main body of your film, between the opening frames and the closing credits;
- Entries to Fone Flix must have been shot entirely on a mobile phone with camera facility; editing may be done using other facilities;
- Maximum length of entries, including credits, is 2 minutes;
- All entries submitted must be high quality and uncompressed on an unauthored data disk in AVI, Quicktime or MOV format (PAL);
- There is no limit to the number of entries submitted (as long as they’re all different!);
- Entries must not infringe copyright. All music used must have permission from the licence holders (for more information see www.apra.com.au);
- Entries must be received or postmarked no later than 5pm 16 July 2007;
- Fist Full of Films and Brown’s Mart Community Arts will not be held liable for any loss or damage to entries submitted;
- Entrants implicitly accept FFF and BMCA’s right to screen entries in full or in part as part of promotion of Fist Full of Films short film competition and/or screenings;
- Entries must not have been screened publicly prior to entry.
NB. Entrants who do not accept and adhere to the above will not be eligible for judging.
Judging
- Entries to the Homegrown Section will be shortlisted by the Fist Full of Films Selection Panel before being submitted to the FFF Judging Panel, a group of nationally and internationally respected Australian film industry professionals.
- Finalists will be notified by Friday 27 July 2007.
- Non-finalists will not be contacted and should assume their entry has NOT been shortlisted if they have not been contacted. (If this does occur, please don’t be discouraged – ask for feedback, improve your skills, go to the screenings and see where you might have gone wrong, and try again next year!).
- Judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. However, entrants may request feedback on their entry from the FFF Selection Panel by emailing the FFF Producer after the Darwin screenings.
- Judges will select one entry to receive the FFF Best Film – Fone Flix Award.
Screenings
Fist Full of Films Fone Flix Section finalists will be beamed into participating audience members’ phones at the Galah Award Premiere at the Deckchair Cinema, 20 August 2007, as part of the 2007 Darwin Festival program.
All entries will be uploaded to FFF’s YouTube page and available for viewing according to the procedures governing YouTube.
